Welcome to my corner of the internet.
This blog exists for two main reasons:
- To help me remember everything thatโs going on in life.
- To share the chaos, projects, and adventures with friends, family, and anyone else who might enjoy following along.
Life around here tends to fall into four categories: Paws, Projects, Plants, and Places. If you follow this blog for any amount of time, youโll probably see a little bit of all four.
๐พ Paws
Letโs start with the real bosses of the house: the dogs.

Roger is a Siberian Husky and Pit Bull mix, which means he combines the dramatic personality of a husky with the determination of a pit bull. Heโs talkative, protective, and always ready to comment on whatever is happening around the house.
Rogerโs story started in Blackville, South Carolina, shortly after the โ1000-year flood.โ I found him stranded on the steps of Town Hall and likely had been living as a stray for a long time. Now heโs here, and he takes his job as household supervisor very seriously.

Dottie is 50% German Shorthaired Pointer and 50% Llewellin Setter, which in practical terms means she has approximately 300% more energy than the average dog. She spends most of her day chasing squirrels, birds, or anything else that moves.
She actually came to us through our neighbor, who loved her but couldnโt take her when he moved. Lucky for Dottie, she landed somewhere with plenty of room to burn energy.

Then thereโs Lady Byrd, our elegant world traveler. Sheโs a Pharaoh Hound who was born in England and spent much of her life near Miami before joining our household in South Carolina. Her previous family sadly had to give her up due to their sonโs allergies.
While the other two are running around, causing chaos, Lady Byrd brings a level of grace and sophistication to the group.
๐จ Projects
There is almost always some kind of project happening around the house.
Sometimes itโs DIY inside, sometimes itโs landscape work outside, and sometimes itโs the kind of project that starts small and somehow turns into a much bigger undertaking than originally planned.
If thereโs dirt involved, tools involved, or the phrase โthis should be a quick projectโ involved, it will probably end up in this section.
๐ฟ Plants
One of the biggest projects underway right now is transforming our yard.
Like many yards in the South, ours currently contains a mix of invasive plants, non-native ornamentals, and whatever previous homeowners decided to plant 50+ years ago.
The long-term goal is to slowly convert the landscape into something much more beneficial: a yard full of plants native to our region that support birds, pollinators, and other wildlife.
But this section wonโt just be about whatโs happening in our yard.
It will also include observations from outside the fence line โ the plants I notice around town, along roadsides, in parks, and in unexpected places.
Some posts might be about invasive species that seem to be everywhere, like Bradford pear trees or English ivy.
Others might highlight native plants that people overlook or pull out as weeds, even though theyโre incredibly valuable to wildlife.
Once you start paying attention to plants, you realize theyโre telling stories everywhere you go.
This will be a place to notice those stories.
โ๏ธ Places
The final category is Places, because getting out and seeing the world is one of my favorite things to do.
Some trips are big international adventures. Others are visits to major cities around the United States.
Two destinations that seem to make it into the schedule regularly are Las Vegas and Mexico, we typically visit both at least once a year.
Travel always brings new experiences, good stories, and usually a few surprisesโso those will find their way here too.
Why This Blog Exists
At the end of the day, this blog is simply a place to document life as it unfolds.
The dogs, the projects, the yard transformations, and the trips along the way.
If something here makes you laugh, inspires you to try something new, or just gives you a small break from your day, then this blog will be doing exactly what I hoped it would do.
Thanks for following along.
